Our Story
BORN FROM A MOVEMENT
WeWearAustralian began in 2020, when Kelly Atkinson and Richard Poulson brought the Australian fashion industry together at a moment of real uncertainty. What began as a campaign to support local designers grew into a movement of more than 170 brands, generating millions in sales for Australian labels and, through its partnership with Thread Together, clothing thousands of Australians in need.
New York confirmed what the movement had suggested. A WeWearAustralian trunk show during Fashion Week drew a thousand visitors over three days, and the appetite for Australian design was clear. In April 2026, we opened our first flagship at 69 Mercer Street, SoHo — a permanent home for Australian creativity in the US.

Meet the Founders
KELLY ATKINSON AND RICHARD POULSON
Kelly and Richard have spent their careers in service of Australian design. Richard co-founded the label Morrison, chaired the WA Fashion Council, and sits on the Business of Fashion Global Fashion Council. Kelly, our Creative Director, brings a stylist’s eye shaped by years in visual merchandising and editorial — the same eye behind every residency edit, and one you can book time with in store.
Recipients of the Australian Fashion Laureate for Innovation and Change, they built WeWearAustralian to do one thing well: bridge Australian creative culture and the global marketplace.
